U15 Hockey - Gosfield 0 New Eccles 1

Tuesday 3rd October

Gosfield under 15 mixed girls and boys played New Eccles at hockey and celebrated their first win of the season, wining 1-0. It was a very good experience as some players had never played in a competitive game and it was clear to see everyone enjoyed it. It was an action packed afternoon full of fun with a very positive atmosphere.

U13 Hockey - Stoke College 1 Gosfield 0

Thursday 28th September

Well done to all the year 7 and 8 girls who played stoke college on Thursday 28th September. There was an interesting start to the game as the pitch was invaded by a snake. Even though it was a very close game we just had the edge with the final score of 1-0. In the first half, we played very well with the ball constantly in there half; this was an achievement for us as during the first game as Stoke had more players on the pitch than us, we adjusted our team to ensure we were equal in numbers. With the large number of keen Gosfield players totalling 27, it was decided to split the match into three mini games. Strong defence and great goalkeeping by Libby Lawrence and Suki meant we did not concede any goals and Daisy Twin had an amazing powerful shot on goal straight past the goalkeeper and into the corner. Well done, fantastic start to the beginning of the season.

Tuesday 26th September

The under 15 girls hockey team played Stoke College and unfortunately lost 1-0. However, this was the first game of the season and it was clear to see that Gosfield seemed to have more possession and it was very easy to see a clear improvement in game play. In the end, the player of the match was awarded to Esther Wilkins who worked hard in the mid-field. Overall an excellent performance and a positive start to the season.

Monday 25th September

Year 5 and 6 triumph in their first Hockey match of the season!

Congratulations to all the Hockey girls in Year 5 and 6 for their 4-0 win at Stoke College on Monday. Gosfield started the game confidently with Evie W scoring within the first two minutes. The captain for the match, Evie H, scored the second goal with a low shot to the right hand corner. Gosfield were 3 goals up after 10 minutes after Evie W converted her second! Darcy who played in goal kicked the ball away confidently on several occasions when Stoke threatened an attack. Evie W completed her hat trick with a fantastic run from the half way line through all the defence before beating the keeper. Congratulations to Tanaka who was voted player of the match by the Stoke College goals. She did dribble the ball at speed up the wing. Special mention to Connie playing her first ever match at Gosfield for her excellent defensive play.

An excellent performance, especially after only 2 games afternoons! Well done to you all!
