Hockey Tournament

We played (Year 9 and 10 girls) against Finborough and Stoke College in a three way triangular hockey tournament on Tuesday 6th November. Our first game was against Stoke College in which we drew 0-0 and were a little disappointed that we did not score and win the game. Our second game was a very tough game against Finborough. Finborough scored in the first half and lead 1-0 at half time. In the second half, Izzy Wigg scored an amazing goal, but unfortunately Finborough scored another goal and the game ended 2-1 to them. We were very happy with how we played as it was such a challenging game. Everyone was determined and worked really well as a team!

Cambridge International 1 - 3 Gosfield School

17th October 2017

The weather was cloudy yet mild when we arrived at Cambridge International  to play their Year 9 team. Jess stepped in as goalie for the game with Grace in defence, Gabby and Archie in midfield, Lucy and Alex on the wings and a partnership of Alex and Amelia upfront.

The game didn’t start off too well as Cambridge scored within the first 5 minutes but thankfully it wasn’t long before Lucy equalised. There were a few close calls but no more goals in the first quarter. In the second quarter, Jess made some very nice saves, kicking the ball away virtually half way down the field. We worked very well together as a team communicating and making some very good passes.

After the half time break, the game started to pick up pace and Lucy scored her second goal of the game. Cambridge came close to scoring a couple themselves but it was Izzy who scored for Gosfield. In the last quarter Izzy and Gabby switched positions and we kept a good formation, defended well and saw out a well-deserved 3 -1 win over Cambridge International who were excellent hosts.

U15 Hockey - Gosfield 0 New Eccles 1

Tuesday 3rd October

Gosfield under 15 mixed girls and boys played New Eccles at hockey and celebrated their first win of the season, wining 1-0. It was a very good experience as some players had never played in a competitive game and it was clear to see everyone enjoyed it. It was an action packed afternoon full of fun with a very positive atmosphere.

U13 Hockey - Stoke College 1 Gosfield 0

Thursday 28th September

Well done to all the year 7 and 8 girls who played stoke college on Thursday 28th September. There was an interesting start to the game as the pitch was invaded by a snake. Even though it was a very close game we just had the edge with the final score of 1-0. In the first half, we played very well with the ball constantly in there half; this was an achievement for us as during the first game as Stoke had more players on the pitch than us, we adjusted our team to ensure we were equal in numbers. With the large number of keen Gosfield players totalling 27, it was decided to split the match into three mini games. Strong defence and great goalkeeping by Libby Lawrence and Suki meant we did not concede any goals and Daisy Twin had an amazing powerful shot on goal straight past the goalkeeper and into the corner. Well done, fantastic start to the beginning of the season.

U15 Hockey - Stoke College 1 Gosfield 0

Tuesday 26th September

The under 15 girls hockey team played Stoke College and unfortunately lost 1-0. However, this was the first game of the season and it was clear to see that Gosfield seemed to have more possession and it was very easy to see a clear improvement in game play. In the end, the player of the match was awarded to Esther Wilkins who worked hard in the mid-field. Overall an excellent performance and a positive start to the season.
