Henry Green capped a good all round performance by top scoring and fielding with great enthusiasm. An enjoyable game and all players should be pleased with the progress.

U13 XI Cricket Gosfield 92 v CHS 88

Wednesday 4th May

As the score indicates this was a close match with the result undecided until the last ball. Gosfield batted first and struggled to make 92 after 20 overs with Ben Wyss top scoring with 23 not out. Colchester in reply were restricted by some brilliant bowling with James Horslen leading from the front and taking 2 wickets. Michael Freeman, Sam Hume and George Redfern also bowled with great accuracy to keep the opposition at bay. With little training being able to be held in the lead up, this was an excellent start to the season – well done boys!

U13 Cricket - Gosfield 98/3 lost to Friends 122/8

Wednesday 24th June

Gosfield continued to show the improvement noted in previous weeks, losing to a Friends in a match that was closer than it looks. Once again the opposition had two big lads who were able to hammer any loose ball to the boundary, and this was the difference. Some excellent bowling from Sam Hume and James Horslen kept the score at a reasonable target, whilst Henry Gayton bowled one memorable over taking 2 wickets. Kyron Moon was outstanding with the bat, scoring 30 runs in quick time. He was aided by Raffy Bright with whom he put on a 50 run partnership. Aston Beagrie clubbed a quick 20 but eventually the score proved too great to overhaul. A very valiant effort and the boys should be proud of their game today.

U13 Cricket - Gosfield 57 were defeated by Holmwood 8/58

Wednesday 17th June

In a thrilling match that went down to the last 3 balls, Gosfield lost out narrowly to Holmwood House. In a game dominated by the bowlers and some excellent fielding, Holmwood restricted Gosfield to 57 runs off their 16 overs. James Horslen and Kyron Moon led the way with a good opening partnership. Fine early bowling by James Horslen, Henry Gayton and Raffy Mathews, kept Holmwood in check. Brilliant bowling at the death by Ben Wyss nearly saw Gosfield home, but Holmwood eventually grabbed the win . All the boys should be congratulated on a fine performance.

U13 Cricket - Gosfield 5/54 were defeated by Finborough 106

Wednesday 10th June

Gosfield's U13 cricket team is predominantly made up of year 7's, who quite naturally struggle when they are up against teams filled with big year 8 boys. This was the case in this match where the two teams were very evenly matched for talent, but the power and size of the Finborough middle order was the difference. Excellent bowling by James Horslen and Henry Gayton restricted the Finborough top order, James taking three wickets and Henry one. The aforementioned middle order then totally dominated the attack and posted a hefty score. Gosfield were always struggling to keep the run rate up and despite an excellent effort from Ben Wyss, ably supported by George Redfern and Tom Dickson, the Gosfield boys just couldn't find the boundary enough to reach the required score.
