U15 Rugby New Eccles 0 - Gosfield 91

Tuesday 11th October

Gosfield made the long trip to Norfolk to play an inexperienced New Eccles side. It became clear early on that Gosfield had the upper hand with few of the opposition inclined to defend with any purpose. That said, Gosfield played by far their best rugby of the season with most team members crossing for a try. The rucking, support play and passing were all much improved as Gosfield controlled every aspect of the game. New Eccles declined an offer to mix the teams up and hopefully they will derive some benefit from the outing.

U13 Rugby Cambridge International 10 - Gosfield 57

Thursday 6th October

Gosfield travelled to Cambridge and proved far too good for an inexperienced CIS side. Kyran Trevain had an excellent match, attacking at every opportunity and scoring a well deserved try. Freddie Calvert showed great footwork and speed to score a try and set up several others. Makai Brown showed his strength scoring a brace and Harry Ellis showed what he is capable of when he puts his mind to it, scoring a brace himself. Alex Little, Charlie Bell and Seb Pilgrim also scored a try each with Charlie and Kyran kicking six of the nine conversions. CIS, to their credit, never gave up and will no doubt derive a lot of benefit from the match.

U9 Football Triangular Tournament v Stoke and CIS

Wednesday 5th October

Gosfield fielded two equal ability teams and every boy in year 3 and 4 enjoyed a number of well contested games. The boys all gained valuable experience of match conditions and the values of teamwork and hard work. Some wins, losses and draws were experienced but ultimately this was a very valuable learning experience.

U9 Hockey - Triangular Tournament

Tuesday 5th October

Our Year 3 and 4 girls took part in a triangular fixture at Stoke College against the hosts and Cambridge International. All the girls had the opportunity to play as we fielded two teams. There were no goal keepers and in one game the girls had to use plastic sticks and balls as the opposition had no shinpads or gumshields.

Stoke College 1 Gosfield 1 (Darcy)
Stoke College 2 Gosfield 1 (Isobel Gale)
Gosfield 0 Cambridge International 3
Gosfield 1 (Fareeda) Cambridge International 0

With only a few weeks of coaching the girls performed with great determination. Their basic skills of dribbling and passing improving as the games progressed. The girls knowledge of game play will improve over the next few weeks as we work hard in preparation for our home fixture on Wednesday 9th November.

Isobelle Paget is my player of the match. She really tried her best and involved herself in both attacking and defending play. Well done!

U15 Rugby Walden School 55 - Gosfield 21

Tuesday 4th October

This was a tough day at the office with the numerically larger Walden School providing a team that was also physically larger and much more experienced than Gosfield. Gosfield's team should be proud of the way they toiled to the end, with Henry Thorne, Ben McQuillan and Chris Crowley all scoring tries, well converted by Kyron Moon. Alex Allen was again a standout whilst Michael Freeman and Henry Thorne were also to the fore until Henry was unfortunately injured - we wish him a speedy recovery.
