Y7&8 Girls Football - National Football Festival

Thursday 13th October

Congratulations to Year 7 and 8 girls who played at the National Football Festival yesterday at LVS Ascot. The girls played 3 games in the first round of the competition. Their first game was against Red House the score ended 0-0. The second game was against King Alfred which also ended 0-0. The final game against Ashwicke Hall, Gosfield won 6-0. Amelia Ward scored 4 sensational goals.

As runners up in their league the girls entered the Plate competition and won their first game 2-0 against LVS Knights. Both our goals were scored by Jess Redfern. The final was against Ashwicke Hall. The girls showed great determination and a fast pass from our mid field allowed Jess Refern to sprint to the oppositions goal and score. The whistle went but it was for another match so we had to play on for another two nail biting minutes! Roxy Mitchell and Libby Lawrence fought hard in defence to fight off the opposition and deny them from scoring. The game finished 1-0 to Gosfield with Gosfield crowned the overall winners of this year’s Plate competition.

We did not concede a single goal throughout the tournament thanks to our 2 goalkeepers - Maddie Greenwood and Roxy Mitchell. A special mention has to go to all players: Amelia Ward, Jess Redfern, Rhian Rundle, Maddie Greenwood, Niamh Degnan, Libby Lawrence, Abbie Bretton, Roxy Mitchell and Lucy Morris! Everyone played brilliantly showing great team spirit, masses of enthusiasm and superb sportsmanship. You should all be very proud of your achievements. We are all looking forward to next year’s competition.

U9 Football - Gosfield v St Margarets

Thursday 13th October

Every boy in year 3 and 4 enjoyed a run out against local rivals St Margarets. The visitors proved too strong in both matches although the A team match was close for a long time. The boys will have learnt much from this fixture and they all enjoyed the opportunity to play a competitive match.

U13 Rugby - Gosfield 50 Walden School 22

Thursday 13th October

Gosfield proved far too strong for Walden in this entertaining match. Gosfield continued their good recent form with Kyran Trevain, Makai Brown and Charlie Bell all scoring a brace. Ollie Ings had an excellent game and scored a well deserved try as did James Middleton. Charlie Bell was in excellent touch with the boot, converting six of the eight tries. This was another good learning experience for the team who are unbeaten this season.

U15 Rugby New Eccles 0 - Gosfield 91

Tuesday 11th October

Gosfield made the long trip to Norfolk to play an inexperienced New Eccles side. It became clear early on that Gosfield had the upper hand with few of the opposition inclined to defend with any purpose. That said, Gosfield played by far their best rugby of the season with most team members crossing for a try. The rucking, support play and passing were all much improved as Gosfield controlled every aspect of the game. New Eccles declined an offer to mix the teams up and hopefully they will derive some benefit from the outing.

U13 Rugby Cambridge International 10 - Gosfield 57

Thursday 6th October

Gosfield travelled to Cambridge and proved far too good for an inexperienced CIS side. Kyran Trevain had an excellent match, attacking at every opportunity and scoring a well deserved try. Freddie Calvert showed great footwork and speed to score a try and set up several others. Makai Brown showed his strength scoring a brace and Harry Ellis showed what he is capable of when he puts his mind to it, scoring a brace himself. Alex Little, Charlie Bell and Seb Pilgrim also scored a try each with Charlie and Kyran kicking six of the nine conversions. CIS, to their credit, never gave up and will no doubt derive a lot of benefit from the match.
