U9 Football - Holmwood House vs Gosfield

Monday 7th November

Gosfield fielded 3 teams against Holmwood House, allowing every boy to play a full match. Gosfield acquitted themselves very well against the numerically and physically bigger Holmwood sides. The A team fought back well to eventually lose 5-3. The B team were down 3-2 at half time and although the opposition ran away with the match late on, the boys kept trying to the end. The C team lost 3-1 in a very even match where Holmwood capitalised on some errors late in the match. All boys should be proud of their effort and behaviour, well done.

U16 Rugby - Cambridge International 33 Gosfield 31

Thursday 4th November

Gosfield took a large squad of players to compete in a rugby match against Cambridge International School. Unfortunately CIS were down on numbers so the match was reduced to 9 aside. Gosfield rather sportingly gave every boy a run and in so doing cost themselves victory, this however, was not the goal and was acknowledged by our opposition. It was really pleasing to see the effort of all players, in what turned out to be a very high standard, entertaining match.

U11 Tag Rugby - Cambridge International v Gosfield

Wednesday 2nd November

All boys in year 5 and 6 took part in a very entertaining series of matches against Cambridge International School. Evasive running was much more evident from both teams than determined tagging as big scores abounded. Honours were evenly shared in the 6 matches, 4 draws, 1 win and 1 loss. All boys should be commended for the spirit and endeavour shown.

Y9&10 Hockey New Eccles 0 - Gosfield 5

Tuesday 1st November

Congratulations to all year 9 and 10 girls who played the return leg of a hockey fixture against New Eccles on Tuesday 1st November. The girls attacked strongly and maintained possession to win a number of short and long corners. The girls were able to practice some set pieces and score some impressive goals from this play. A special mention has to go to Joely, Emily, Bella, Madi and Esther for scoring or setting up the goals. The final score was 5-0 to Gosfield. Well done girls!

Y7&8 Girls Football - National Football Festival

Thursday 13th October

Congratulations to Year 7 and 8 girls who played at the National Football Festival yesterday at LVS Ascot. The girls played 3 games in the first round of the competition. Their first game was against Red House the score ended 0-0. The second game was against King Alfred which also ended 0-0. The final game against Ashwicke Hall, Gosfield won 6-0. Amelia Ward scored 4 sensational goals.

As runners up in their league the girls entered the Plate competition and won their first game 2-0 against LVS Knights. Both our goals were scored by Jess Redfern. The final was against Ashwicke Hall. The girls showed great determination and a fast pass from our mid field allowed Jess Refern to sprint to the oppositions goal and score. The whistle went but it was for another match so we had to play on for another two nail biting minutes! Roxy Mitchell and Libby Lawrence fought hard in defence to fight off the opposition and deny them from scoring. The game finished 1-0 to Gosfield with Gosfield crowned the overall winners of this year’s Plate competition.

We did not concede a single goal throughout the tournament thanks to our 2 goalkeepers - Maddie Greenwood and Roxy Mitchell. A special mention has to go to all players: Amelia Ward, Jess Redfern, Rhian Rundle, Maddie Greenwood, Niamh Degnan, Libby Lawrence, Abbie Bretton, Roxy Mitchell and Lucy Morris! Everyone played brilliantly showing great team spirit, masses of enthusiasm and superb sportsmanship. You should all be very proud of your achievements. We are all looking forward to next year’s competition.
