U14 Rugby - Kings Ely 28 Gosfield 19

Tuesday 15th November

Gosfield made the long trip to Ely and started off playing against a mixture of A and B team players. The opposition were a little taken aback by the strength of the Gosfield forwards and Michael Freeman capitalised with an excellent early try. Fearing a defeat, the opposition continually strengthened their side, taking a slender 14-12 lead into half time. Chris Crowley was outstanding and scored an excellent try to take the lead early in the second half. Further replacements by the opposition saw them run out victors by 28-19. Year 8 players Charlie Bell, Makai Brown and Kyran Trevain should be commended on their wholehearted efforts. Well done boys.

50th Anniversary of Cut Hedge Cross Country Competition

Wednesday 23rd November

UPDATE 21st NOVEMBER

Conditions underfoot for the run on Wednesday are very wet. For safety purposes we are recommending that ALL runners wear football boots.

Our annual Cut Hedge Trophy Cross Country Competition is continuing to grow in popularity with an increasing number of independent and maintained schools from across Essex taking part.

Its success may be because of our 100 acres of beautiful parkland or the high likelihood of being covered in mud; whichever it is this year's event is shaping up to be the biggest yet, helping us to celebrate our 50th Anniversary in style.

Races will be held in the following categories:

• Under 11's (Years 5 and 6) girls' and boys' races
• Under 13's (Year 7 and 8) girls' and boys' races

Each school can enter up to 6 children per team.

Gosfield School teams
We will of course be entering our own teams across all of the race categories. You are more than welcome to come along for the morning to cheer on all the runners and support your own children. The competition briefing begins at 10am in the Sports Hall with the results and final presentations being made at approximately 11.45am. Please do not arrive before 9.30am.

School Team registrations
To register your team please download the Team Registration Form and follow the instructions. Completed forms must be returned to Gosfield School by Wednesday 16th November.

Y9&10 Hockey - Finborough 3 Gosfield 1

Tuesday 8th November

Well done to year 9 and 10 girls who played Hockey against Finborough on Tuesday 8th November. The girls started the match competitively showing some excellent play and great commitment. The score at the end of the half time was 1-1. A special mention has to go to Bella who adopted a new role of goalkeeper and make some outstanding saves. Also the most improved player has to go to Katelyn who particularly moved around the pitch brilliantly working hard to track down the opposition. The final score was 3-1 to Finborough. However, every player should be very proud of their efforts. There has been a significant improvement in game play this term. Well done girls!!!
