Friday 2nd December
Gosfield scored a thoroughly deserved win over rivals St Johns, with Joe Skillicorn taking the honours with a well struck hat trick. Kurt Beagrie was sublime at times, scoring two goals, one of which any professional would be proud. Antonio Tibaldi had an excellent game whilst youngsters Ben Wyss, Kyron Moon and Ben McQuillan made a huge contribution to the victory. Once some defensive lapses are ironed out the team should go from strength to strength.
Years 10 to 13
Mock Exams for Years 10 to 13 will be taking place the first week back following the Christmas break.
Tuesday 29th November
This certainly was a game of two halves. The first half saw Gosfield squander several scoring opportunities - the team lacked any real fluency and simple chances went begging. St Johns on the other hand had two goal scoring chances and took them both to take a 2-0 lead into half time. The second half saw Gosfield begin to dominate every area on the pitch, but with 15 minutes left still had no reward. Suddenly a fantastic strike from Ben Wyss seemed to lift the side and a second goal followed quickly as Freddie Bowers guided a brilliant cross from Tom Dickson into the net. The last few minutes saw keeper Ben McQuillan make some match defining saves. Michael Freeman sent a great ball forward and once again Ben calmly struck the winner – Gosfield deserved winners 3-2!
Thursday 24th November
After being quite soundly beaten earlier this term against the St Margaret’s A and B team, Gosfield reversed the results against the opposition B and D team. These were very even fixtures which were appreciated by all the boys. Both matches were enjoyable to watch and very well contested. Gosfield’s A team won 3-2 after leading 3-0 at half time, whilst the B team had a tremendous second half to win 5-2. Well done boys!
It was a wonderful morning to celebrate 50 years since the very first Cut Hedge Cross Country run took place at Gosfield School. Despite the recent wet weather the ground conditions were good and runners made the most of our course.
We had more schools than ever take part, with over 90 runners in the Year 5 and 6 races. It was marvellous to see so many young athletes rising to the challenge of the course and enjoying our wonderful grounds. Many congratulations go to the overall winners from Elm Green School who took home the coveted Cut Hedge trophy and to all the runners who placed in their races. We were delighted that Gosfield’s Year 7-8 boys won silver in the team event, with the Year 7-8 girls achieving bronze medals.
A special thank you to all the supporters that came along as well - it is lovely to see you so involved and committed to your schools'.
