Duke of Edinburgh Expedition

Duke of Edinburgh Expedition

Seventeen of our Year 10 and 12 pupils travelled to the South Downs in Sussex this past weekend to complete their Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award Actual Expedition. Pupils showed great resolve over the difficult terrain, enjoying breath-taking views once they had completed their ascent.

Thankfully, the weather held out whilst they completed this difficult leg of the journey; they were not as lucky later as when darkness fell, so did the rain! Pupils maintained their spirits, and completed their second day's walking with aplomb.

The final day dawned and - after checks with the assessor and their staff members to ensure they knew the end goal: passing the expedition by reaching the final checkpoint - pupils set off for a final hike. By the end of the weekend we had lots of tired children, all of whom had the satisfaction of knowing they had passed the Expedition! Now, they have time to enjoy their Volunteering, Physical and Skill elements to complete their Silver Award.
