U9 Football - Finborough 1 Gosfield School 1

Wednesday 22nd November

We turned up at Finborough School to see three separate teams training for a game against us. Given the time available we agreed to play against their A and B team. They were unbeaten in their six games and were convincing winners in all of them. So they were mightily surprised when our Gosfield boys began to boss the first game against their 'B' team. Scott Tyrie put in some crunching tackles and Adam Alsawaf was all over the pitch getting the ball back. It was Alfie Ratcliffe-Bingham who stood out playing in the centre of midfield. We went 1-0 down to an unfortunate defensive mistake but came back strongly to level with a shot across the goal by Alfie. We nearly scored several times but for some excellent saves by the Finbrorough goal keeper to keep the score to 1-1.

The second game against their best team was just as close and we only lost to a rebouded shot early in the second half. Jacob Freeman was strong in goal and Austin Willis, previously in goal was a demon in the midfield. An excellent first game boys-well done!
